Breathwork Safety Information
Most people can participate in Restore Calm classes and Stressed Gut Reset private sessions. The majority of practices involve slow, steady breathing. A few practices may not be suitable for people with certain health conditions. These practices are generally optional, and an alternative is available.
Please contact me before booking if you have:
- A heart condition, including a pacemaker or irregular heartbeat
- Blood pressure that isn’t well controlled
- Epilepsy or a history of seizures
- Severe asthma or lung disease
- Recent surgery
- An acute mental health crisis
Please check with your GP first where appropriate. I may suggest a modified practice, or advise that the session is unsuitable.
Please tell me before the session if you:
- Are pregnant
- Have an eye pressure condition such as glaucoma
- Have a hernia, recent abdominal surgery, a stoma, or a current digestive flare
- Have asthma that is well managed
- Have bipolar disorder or a history of psychosis
- Experience dizziness or fainting, or have tinnitus
If anything above applies to you, I’ll advise you to skip, adapt a practice or suggest an alternative.
What you may notice. Lightheadedness, tingling, yawning, a calm or sleepy feeling, or emotions rising are all possible. If you feel unwell, return to slow, natural breathing, open your eyes and tell me.
Your responsibility. Please tell me anything relevant, including any changes between booking and the session. You can stop or rest at any time.
This is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you’re unsure whether breathwork is suitable for you, ask your GP.
